Alpaca hides straight from Cusco Stores in Peru, with long, silky fibre and no lanolin. Each hide comes from one animal, so colour, pattern and size vary. Baby and young hides are sold by size; for a full pelt we send photos and measurements before you buy.
Which size to pick
We measure at the longest and widest point, legs included. The product page gives the maximum size; the actual hide is a little smaller. Full pelts and sewn rugs are ordered separately.

Direct from Cusco
We buy our hides from Cusco Stores in Peru, and we are their official partner in the EU.
The hides are tanned the traditional way in the Cusco region: the back stays supple and the fur stays put. No hide is dyed.
Alpaca colours run from white and cream through fawn, dark brown and grey to black, and many hides are piebald. Size depends on the animal's age, so no two hides match.

- Baby and young alpaca hides fit a parcel locker when folded: Estonia 2 to 6 working days, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark 3 to 10 working days. Full pelts and rugs come by courier. Delivery in Estonia is free from 65 €.
- You can return a hide within 14 days if it is unused.
- Do not wash the hide, keep it away from heat and direct sun. Shake it, air it in the shade, comb it once a month with a wide comb. Spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, vacuum on low without a rotating brush.
Questions we get asked
Is an alpaca hide warmer than sheepskin?
Weight for weight, yes: alpaca fibre is partly hollow and holds air. On the floor the two feel much the same. On a chair or beside the bed, where you touch the hide, the silky alpaca fibre is the nicer one. The longer comparison is on the blog.
Does it shed?
Very little. Alpaca fibre is long and smooth, stays anchored in the hide and does not mat. A few loose hairs may come out in the first weeks; a shake takes care of them.
Can I see the exact hide before I buy?
Yes, just ask. For a full pelt we send photos and measurements before you buy. For baby and young hides we send a photo or a short video of the specific hide before dispatch if you ask.
What does a full pelt cost?
Price on request; it depends on size and colour. Full pelts run 130 to 160 cm long. Send the inquiry form and we usually reply within one working day. Photos and prices follow once we have checked stock.
Do you ship to Finland, Sweden and Norway?
Finland and Sweden yes, along with Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark, in 3 to 10 working days. The shop does not ship to Norway at the moment. If you live in Norway, write to us and we will see what is possible.
How do I clean it?
Do not wash it. Shake it, air it in the shade, comb it with a wide comb. Dab stains with a damp cloth and mild soap. Vacuum on low, without a rotating brush. More in the care guide.
Can it go in a child's bed?
No. We do not recommend a hide in the sleeping place, cot or pram of a baby or small child. In a child's room a small hide belongs on a chair, on the floor in a play corner or on the wall.

Yes. Interior designers, photo studios, furniture makers and shops get trade prices and an invoice with VAT. We quote each request individually. Details on the trade page.

Why choose an alpaca hide
Alpaca fibre is partly hollow and traps air, so weight for weight the hide warms better than sheepskin. The long, smooth fur does not mat or shed the way reindeer hide does. No lanolin means the hide has no woolly smell and suits many people who find sheep's wool itchy. Each hide comes from one animal, so colour, pattern and exact size always vary a little. How to care for an alpaca hide
Do not wash, do not heat, keep out of direct sun. Shake it, air it in the shade, comb once a month with a wide-toothed comb. Dab stains with a damp cloth and mild soap. Vacuum only on low power and without a rotating brush. The full guide is in our care article.
Can an alpaca hide go in a child's bed?
No. We do not recommend hides, fur or soft toys anywhere a baby or small child sleeps, their bed included. In a child's room an alpaca hide works as decor: on a chair, on the wall or in a floor corner.
Is an alpaca hide warmer than sheepskin?
Weight for weight, yes. On the floor they feel similar, because the curly wool of a sheepskin is a thicker layer. On a chair or by the bed, where the hide is touched, the silky alpaca fur is clearly nicer.
