Socks

Alpaca wool socks keep feet warm and dry: alpaca fibre is partly hollow, insulates better per gram than sheep's wool and wicks moisture away from the skin. There are three weights: thin alpaca socks for shoes, medium-weight socks for boots and thick alpaca socks for hiking, the cabin or a cold floor. No lanolin means the socks do not hold odour and suit skin that is sensitive to wool. At home, baby alpaca slippers carry on the same job. More on the fibre in our fibre guide.

Why choose alpaca socks

Alpaca fibre is stronger and smoother than sheep's wool: the sock pills less, does not wear thin at the heel as quickly and does not itch. It wicks moisture away from the skin, so the foot stays dry even on a long hike. The sock keeps its shape, does not sag and does not pinch at the calf.

Where our socks come from

Knitted in Peru from alpaca wool, in three weights and sizes 36 to 44. Read about our partners.

How to care for alpaca socks

By hand or on a wool cycle up to 30 °C in a laundry bag, no spin, dry flat. Never in the tumble dryer. See our care article.

Which weight should I choose?

Thin for everyday wear with ordinary shoes, medium for winter boots and the office, thick for hiking boots, the cabin and cold floors at home.

Do alpaca socks make feet sweat?

Less than synthetic or cotton socks. Alpaca fibre wicks moisture away and dries quickly, and it does not hold odour.
